25 years of supporting school children

With 1,000 Greggs Foundation Breakfast Clubs now in schools across the nation, every day over 75,000 children are able to start their day on time and with a full tummy – and ready to learn. That’s 14.6 million meals a year.

We all know that early mornings and long days are made so much harder without something to fuel our bodies and minds.

Greggs Foundation Breakfast Clubs offer children a nourishing morning meal, a chance to play and learn and help them ease into a busy school day – all whilst also supporting working parents.

The Greggs Foundation Breakfast Club programme began back in 1999. Thanks to the incredible support of Greggs colleagues, customers and a network of funding partners, we’re incredibly proud to say we’ve now officially reached our target of opening 1,000 Breakfast Clubs a year earlier than we stated in the Greggs Pledge.

Celebrating our 1,000th Breakfast Club

It’s not every day you hit a milestone like this.

With the Greggs Foundation serving up so many smiles, it’s only fitting to celebrate with a quick visit from none other than Joe Swash.

Joe surprised Vauxhall Primary School as they tucked into their breakfast before school, and helped the kids understand how important a nutritious breakfast is.

How it all works

With a growing network of Breakfast Club schools, the Greggs Foundation offers grant funding to primary schools for them to buy the healthy food they know their kids would love most.

Our Greggs shops also team up with local clubs to donate loaves of bread – because a fresh slice of toast is sometimes all you fancy. Over half a million loaves of bread are donated to our network of schools every year… that’s no half-baked feat!

There’s more…

As the rising cost-of-living continues to impact children and families throughout the UK, the Greggs Foundation also offers all schools in its Breakfast Club network access to a hardship fund which supports those in financial crisis with food, clothing and energy vouchers, as well as essential home appliances.
