Greggs Foundation
For more than twenty years the Greggs Foundation has been making a difference to people in need at the heart of Greggs' local communities.
The Greggs Foundation was established by Ian Gregg in 1987, with the aim of putting something back into the communities where Greggs operates. It started from very humble origins, making small grants in the North East of England and has developed into an organisation giving out in excess of £1 million per year through its grant programmes.
The Foundation aims to support the most disadvantaged people in the country through its four grant programmes:
- Breakfast Clubs - Each day, our award-winning Greggs Breakfast Clubs provide over 6,000 primary school children in disadvantaged areas with a free, healthy breakfast.
- Major Grants - Providing funding to underpin the costs of charities that support the most disadvantaged people in the North East of England.
- Hardship Fund - Helping families and individuals in the North East of England who are in extreme financial hardship. Grants are made for essential items such as beds, washing machines, cookers and clothing.
- Regional Grants - Supporting charities around England, Scotland and Wales with grants of up to £2,000 for activities that help the most disadvantaged people.

A resilient first half performance under challenging conditions
We are pleased to announce total sales growth of 2.9% and like-for-like sales growth of 0.7% for the first 26 weeks of 2010. Derek Netherton, Chairman, said , "Despite the challending trading environment, I believe that Greggs remains on track to deliver another year of progress."
The Great Bakery Bike Ride raises the dough
A team of Greggs Directors and staff have completed a 900 mile bakery bike ride, raising a whopping £76,000 for BBC Children in Need and Greggs Breakfast Clubs.
